This is an example of my design work outside of ceramics.

This meditation pillow originated as a 12th Century Chinese ceramic pillow. As a loan from the Art Institute of Chicago's Asian Collection, I 3d scanned the ceramic pillow and adapted it to suit 21st Century needs. After experimentation, cork was chosen as the final material because of its superior material properties: lightweight, waterproof, rigid and spongy. Using digital fabrication with a laser-cutter, 3d printer, and CNC machine; other material tests included wood, foam, acrylic, and paper.
